Moving? Really?

Dogs that need a yard - don't they look desperate!!
I do not like change, and yet change is one of the underlying themes of my life!

I’ve been back in New Orleans for almost two years now. I’ve only moved once in all that time – guess it’s time to pack! In the past 8 years (i.e. since Katrina), I’ve moved 5 times. That's once every 1.6 years – yep definitely time to move.

The place I’m moving to now is the place I wanted to move nearly two years ago but it wasn’t available. It was being major renovated, so I “settled” for my condo. Now I’ve come to love it and it is very hard to leave. It’s hard to remember how badly I wanted a yard for my dogs, how much I dislike having to walk them in the dark and cold in the winter (ok, semi-winter).

Maybe this is just an elaborate plot to avoid writing. I WILL do anything to keep from writing… Could it be that I couldn’t think of anything else so I’m moving again? Nah! I can think of dozens of things to do to avoid writing! I can play on-line games, play games on my phone, watch Law & Order re-runs or bad Lifetime movies, arrange my books by color, visit friends, have friends over, go out to dinner, clean out a closet, play with my dogs (you know, the ones that need a yard), organize my kitchen for the fifteenth time, make that Atkins-friendly flour-less cake I’ve been dying to try, rearrange furniture, shop in catalogs full of stuff I’ll never buy, talk on the phone for hours, text, read books ABOUT writing, play with the latest writing software, surf the Internet and convince myself I’m doing research… The list is endless.

*sigh*
